The Power of Surrender
In the mysterious and sometimes magical pathway of achieving our dreams, there is a moment of ‘giving up.’ Often, right before we finally experience the results we’ve worked towards, something inside of us releases the struggle. As if, a knot of lack or uncertainty unwinds. Then, in some natural timing, the life that had once been imaginary becomes quite real.
The power of surrender is subtle but profound, and key in the art of manifestation.
The other day I was reminded how quickly things can change, and how easy it can be when we access the power of surrender to enjoy where we are.
Towards the end of February we had several days of snow. I had been lulled by a few beautiful days before that, and did not appreciate the plummeting temperatures. In my mind, the thermostat was moving in the wrong direction. I resented and resisted the cold, and curled up by the heater.
After several days at odds with the reality of my surroundings, I softened. It was February, after all – still winter. There wasn’t a thing I could do about it, so why give it the power to make me miserable?
It was more than a mental decision; it was a relief.
The next morning I woke up to a fresh blanket of snow. As my dog and I walked, more snow was falling. This time I enjoyed it.
Then, like magic, that same afternoon when I came out of work, the snow was gone! In those few short hours the sun had changed everything. Without traveling anywhere I was whisked from a winter wonderland to a springtime afternoon.
Did I manifest that change to happen? No. Beyond my influence, and if I could stop it from snowing I would.
Did my surrendering of resistance contribute to the sun shining that day? Of course not, though the excellent timing provided a lovely reminder of how quickly things can change.
What I did create, thanks power of surrender, was a peaceful morning walk in the crisp snow, and a blissful evening walk in the clear, warm air.
