Is Generosity Always Good?
If Abundance is Generated Through Giving of Yourself, Why Are So Many Truly Good & Giving People Financially Challenged?
Inside the human imprint we have four basic roles. In moments of unconsciousness we default to:
Winners and losers. These roles have been played to every extreme. Their web of relationships and betrayals is denser than an old kelp forest. The only way out is up; through the middle way of transcendence and transformation. The way to become much more is to first become less.
Our human imprint program is controlled by powerful and powerless, superior and inferior. We compete. Our value we measure by what we possess. Beauty, wealth, health, confidence and dominance are prized. A very nasty person can be quite successful as long as they have enough of what other people desire and play the old games of power.
That is why so many good people dropped out. Money is touted as the root of all evil (how could it possibly be? Evil is the root of all evil). But healers, artists, creators, explorers, lovers and inventors for generations have opted out of the old power system. However since it’s impossible to truly opt out, vacating the Tyrant position just relegates a person to the other three. If we are not winners in the power structure of the human imprint, we are by definition losers, outcasts or at least a little strange. To preserve our goodness and integrity we stepped out of the realms of power — leaving a vacuum.
These days we are needed. When you look at it, who do we need more in the power structures of our society than healers, artists, creators, explorers, lovers and inventors? It is time for the ‘meek’ to inherit the earth, and our first step is to upgrade ideas on money and abundance.
We know that power tends to corrupt, so how can we refuse to be corrupted but still inhabit power or influence?
By changing our operating paradigm. Power over, or force, is a win-lose paradigm. I lose and you gain or vice versa. True power comes through us as we connect to our authentic selves and raise our vibration. True power isn’t stolen from someone else, so there is no need for a loser. True power is empowerment independent of the outside world and what they say or think about us.
“In this interconnected universe, every improvement we make in our private world improves the world at large for everyone. We all float on the collective level of consciousness of mankind, so that any increment we add comes back to us. We all add to our common buoyancy by our efforts to benefit life. It is a scientific fact that what is good for you is good for me.” – Dr. David Hawkins, Power vs Force
Dr. Wayne Dyer does a great synopsis of Hawkins’ Power vs Force here.
Of course, by “good” Dr. Hawkins means “highest and best” not “selfish desire.”
We’ve circled back to the catch 22 at the beginning of this blog. If I increase my well being and the well being of others through my efforts to benefit life, than why am I, a giving — even sacrificing & generous person — not living the life of my dreams?
Welcome to the fine print. It’s not as easy as running around being ‘good,’ just giving willy-nilly, or focusing our efforts where we feel the most guilt or get the greatest praise. We are asked to dig deeper. What motivation drives our actions? Are we needy, greedy or controlling (even subtly)? Do we give automatically as taught by others imprinted before us? Selfish motivations yield selfish results. Get a better grasp on over-giving through one woman’s experience here.
Giving in balance is unconditional.
It’s not unconditional because we’ve achieved some transcendent spiritual state where we no longer need food, shelter or clothing. It is unconditional because we are giving of our talents and abilities in a balanced, harmonious flow — exactly as meant. Our giving is unconditional in the sense that it is not a manipulation and we freely allow abundant compensation.
Instead of the old drain — you supporting them because they need or praise you — in the new paradigm of self-trust, you are filled up and overflowing. There are moments you probably experienced that. When we receive and give in equilibrium we live a balanced fullness.
The result is life as art; a life designed for and by the true you.
Beyond Victim, Tyrant, Rebel and Savior is… Co-Creator!
In summary, by stepping out of the power paradigm good people with integrity left a vacuum. It was wise as that old power corrupts, but now there is a new way of inhabiting power. Not force or power over, but the power we each develop as we forge and strengthen our self-trust, and as we acknowledge and act on inspiration and intuition. We stepped out of the old power paradigm but not far enough. It’s time to release the pull and push of the outside world and live a new story, moment to moment, from the inside-out.
