The Secret to Dissolving an Impossible Situation
Many of life’s challenges can be solved by action.
Out of shape? Exercise!
Unhappy in your job? Spruce up that resume!
Car breaking down? Start shopping!
But there are also challenges too big and situations too entrenched to solve with our own action. Some call these karmic situations, but they aren’t necessarily.
Examples would be when we find ourselves upside down in a financial situation where we see no way out… or stuck in an unhappy marriage with kids and no way to improve things… at odds with a loved one so family gatherings are stressful and uncomfortable… or dealing with the death of a dear friend.
Life has dictated the terms and we appear powerless to change them.
In my own life I have faced these impossible circumstances. One was financial, where I had invested with four other people in a large property that turned into a “money pit” losing thousands of dollars a month while real estate values were also dropping. Another was a relationship I had committed to and could not admit was draining me. A third seemingly impossible circumstance was sciatica which came “out of the blue.”
It is when circumstances are most bleak and hopeless that we are actually ripe for a breakthrough, but how? What to do we when nothing ‘normal’ works?
We elevate our consciousness to a new level.
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
~ Albert Einstein
There is action in the outer world and there is also action in the inner world. Most of us are comfortable with finding solutions outside of us, but are relatively new to the simple magic of increasing our own vibration, or inner well-being.
So… how do we raise our consciousness? How do we up-level to the realm of solutions?
The answer is: we become the next level of ourselves.
There are plenty of tools to accomplish this. Some include: meditation, yoga, cleansing diets, and mental-emotional processing (see Leslie Temple-Thurston for Polarity Processing or Byron Katie’s The Work). Sometimes it is as simple as letting the creative part of yourself breathe, or following through on something you know has been calling you for some time. When you do begin to elevate your level of consciousness you feel better and see from a broader perspective.
However, it is common for people to resist this powerful inner work.
Why? Because change is uncomfortable. Before the relief and the solution is a confrontation of inner shame and pain.
We also may be called to face truths about ourselves that are uncomfortable. That is OK! In addressing them we also transcend.
Socially we are taught from very young to avoid feelings of shame and pain even though they are a natural, normal part of the human condition. By avoiding those feelings we give them ‘free reign’ and authority to control certain responses and behaviors. To elevate our consciousness and to become the next level of ourselves we have to face and resolve our inner demons.
In each of the three situations I described above, becoming the next level of myself is exactly what I had to do. It was not an instant solution. In each case, in addition to taking the outer actions available to me, I also did the inner work of meditation and mental-emotional clearing. The sciatica resolved the most quickly — in a few weeks with the outer help of acupuncture and gentle yoga. The money-pit and the relationship both took a few years to resolve but when they did conclude they cleared like magic. One minute I was in the ocean with no lifeboat and had been treading water forever, the next minute I was whisked onto dry land. The problem was resolved and a new opportunity was open and beckoning.
So if you find yourself in an impossible situation, there is a way out.
You can dissolve it! You are being called to evolve. The way out, is in.
